Gregg comes from Pasco, Washington, USA. He is the son of famous fitter Patrick LaVoie, who had the honour of working with legendary golfers such as Arnold Palmer. His older brother Ryan LaVoie, who played on the Korn Ferry Tour (Nationwide Tour) and attended the University of Oregon from 1996-2000, also plays golf.
Gregg followed in his footsteps as a golfer from 2002-2006, when he earned All-American honours. When he started at the University of Oregon, he was the youngest player (15 years old) to qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour (Nike Tour). After college, he took a break from golf and taught history at a school in Florida for six years.
He decided to turn professional in 2013. After playing professionally for four years in Florida, North Carolina and his home state of Washington, he moved to the Czech Republic. He has been training and playing professionally in Prague since 2017.
